How do I pay on Google Play with a KeeCash card?

This article is only about payments declined on Google services.

If your KeeCash card works on other services but not on Google, the problem usually comes from your Google Payments setup or checks.

Check your Google Payments profile

Before trying again, make sure the payment method was added to the right Google account and that the details saved in Google Payments are correct.

In particular, check:

  • the Google account used
  • the card saved
  • the billing address linked to it
  • that nothing was mistyped

Check the billing address saved on Google

Google can decline the payment if the billing address saved in Google Payments does not match the one linked to your KeeCash card.

Once corrected, save the details again and try once more.

Remove your card from Google and add it again

If your card is already saved but the payment does not go through, you can:

  1. remove the payment method saved in Google
  2. add your KeeCash card again
  3. enter the exact billing address again
  4. check that the card was saved without any error

Check that you are using the right Google account

On some devices, several Google accounts can be signed in at the same time.

Before paying, check that the purchase is being made from the right Google account, the one where the card was added correctly.

If Google asks for a verification

In some cases, Google may ask for an extra check on the payment method or on the payment profile.

If that happens:

  • open your Google Payments area
  • check whether there is an alert or an action required
  • follow the instructions shown by Google

Special case: error [OR-HDT-16]

If Google shows the error [OR-HDT-16], it usually means an action or a wait is needed on Google's side.

In that case we recommend that you:

  1. do not try repeatedly straight away
  2. check the billing address saved on Google
  3. check that the card was added to the right Google account
  4. wait before trying again
  5. contact Google support if the error keeps appearing

If payments are declined only on Google

If your card works elsewhere but not on Google or Google Play, it usually points to a block or a check specific to Google Payments.

In that case, check first:

  • the Google Payments profile
  • the billing address
  • the Google account used
  • any alerts shown by Google
  • the exact error code displayed on screen
