# Why was my card payment declined?

# ❌ Why was my card payment declined?

If your payment is declined with a message such as **"issuer declined"**, **"transaction declined"** or **"payment failed"**, it does not necessarily mean your card is not working.
Declines can come from several systems:
* the **merchant website**
* the **payment platform** (Stripe, Paddle, PayPal and others)
* the **card network** (Visa / Mastercard)
* the **automated antifraud systems**
👉 In most cases, **the decline does not come from KeeCash**.

# 💰 1. Insufficient balance
Your payment can be declined if your **card balance is lower than the payment amount**.
Some websites also apply a **pre-authorisation**.

**Example:**
* subscription: $10
* temporary check: $1
So your card needs **at least $11 available**.
👉 Top up your card and try again.

# 📅 2. Expired card

If your card has expired, it can no longer be used.
👉 Check the **expiry date** in the app.

# ⌨️ 3. Incorrect card details

The payment can be declined if the details entered are wrong:
* card number
* expiry date
* CVV
* cardholder name
👉 Check that what you entered is **exactly the same** as what is shown on your KeeCash card.

# 🏠 4. Incorrect billing address

Some websites ask for a **billing address**.
If the address entered does not match what is expected, the payment can be declined.
👉 Recommendations:
* use **your full name**
* avoid **inconsistent addresses**
* use a **real and consistent address**

# 🔐 5. The website's antifraud checks

Payment platforms use **automated security algorithms**.
A payment can be blocked if the system detects unusual behaviour.
Examples:
* several payment attempts
* a sudden change of country or IP
* use of a **VPN**
* payment from a **new device**
* an unusual amount
👉 That block is triggered **by the website or the payment platform**, not by KeeCash.

# 🔄 6. Card deleted then added again

Some services block a card if it was:
* deleted
* then **added again after a decline**
The system can read this as a suspicious attempt.

# 👥 7. The same card used on several accounts

Many services decline a card when it is used on:
* several accounts
* several profiles
This happens often on:
* SaaS services
* advertising platforms
* subscriptions

# 🌍 8. Merchant restrictions

Some websites apply their own restrictions:
* blocking certain regions
* blocking certain banks
* blocking virtual cards
👉 These rules are set **by the merchant**, not by KeeCash.

# 🧾 9. Card type not accepted

Some services refuse:
* **virtual cards**
* **prepaid cards**
In that case the transaction is declined automatically.

# ⏱️ 10. Too many payment attempts

If several payments fail in quick succession, the system can:
* block the card
* block your account
* block your device
This block can last **from a few hours to several days**.

# ⚙️ 11. Temporary block after a decline

After several declines, some websites block the card temporarily.
This check can last **up to 7 days** depending on the service.

# ✅ Recommendations

To avoid declines:
✔ use **one dedicated card per service**
✔ avoid **repeated attempts after a decline**
✔ do not delete the card and add it again
✔ check your **card details**
✔ make sure you have **enough balance**

# 💡 If the block persists

If a service keeps declining your card:
👉 create **a new virtual card** and use it on that service.
That usually solves the problem straight away.
